Laboratory Overview

Autonomous RoboTs and Systems Lab (ARTS Robotics)

Founded by Associate Professor Gan Ma in 2023, ARTS Robotics focuses on two main areas: Robotic Mobility and Robotic Manipulation. The lab is dedicated to advancing research and development in these fields, with particular emphasis on the perception, planning, and control of mobile robots in unstructured environments. Additionally, ARTS Robotics explores precision manipulation, collaborative manipulation, and task execution for robotic arms. The overarching goals of the lab are to drive innovation in robotics technology, foster its practical applications in society, and cultivate outstanding talent in the field of robotics.

Laboratory achievements

ARTS Robotics is developing an embodied robotic system with the state-of-the-art robotic mobility and manipulation ability. So far, this embodied robotic system has been successfully used in a number of manipulation applications such as industrial recycling and maintenance, connector assembly, test tube sorting, flexible linear object manipulation, and autonomous coffee latte.

In terms of robotic mobility, we have developed a number of platforms capable of panoramic sensing, intelligent decision-making, collaborative interaction, and precise motion control. Especially, we have developed an embodied inspection robot, equipped with semantic navigation systems, can potentially been used in areas such as shopping malls, warehouses, and office buildings.
